Support Services
Morris' support does not end at the conclusion of ceremonies. We apply for various benefits, obtain death certificates, process life insurance claims and provide Grief Support Groups several times during the year to help in the emotional adjustment process following a loss.
A Word about Grieving a Loss
"Grief" is a natural response to any loss and unique to each person. We grieve not only the death of a loved one, but all losses; like divorce, retirement or relocation. The grief process is long-term, having no logical pattern, order or timetable. Grief affects us both emotionally and physically, and the intensity will depend upon the relationship one had with the deceased.
"Mourning" is taking the internal experience of grief and expressing it outside oneself. Sadly, people are often told to "be strong" or "keep busy" instead of sharing their feelings. This can inhibit the healing process, causing people to grieve in isolation. Grief is something to be experienced not overcome! We never "get over" the grief of a significant loss, but can come through it by integrating those losses into who we are.
If you love deeply, you will grieve deeply. If you deny your grief, you deny the love you felt. By gradually exploring your memories, while expressing your feelings, you may begin to let go of the pain and the emotional investment. Letting go gradually does not mean forgetting the person who died, but rather re-orienting yourself to put energy toward living fully once again.
Infant and Child Services
During the tragic experience of losing a child, we donate 100% of our professional services for local families who experience the death of an infant. Our fees are also substantially reduced upon the death of an older child.
Services For Veterans
It is a privilege to serve families of veterans who proudly served their Country. Honorably discharged veterans are entitled to a U.S. flag and a grave marker. Certain conditions and eligibility levels allow other veterans benefits. We process all paperwork for benefits and contact the appropriate service branch to request military honors, when available.
Holiday Remembrance Service
This year before Christmas, Morris Funeral Home will host a Holiday Remembrance Service to remember those who died, and to honor and offer support to their families during the holiday season.
Cremation
As a full-service company, cremation is an integral part of our services. Cremation can occur before or after ceremonies. Cremation does not limit your options! We offer cremation containers when a funeral precedes cremation. Temporary or permanent urns are available in many materials and styles.
Pre-arrangement
Today more people recognize how planning their funeral in advance is a normal part of estate planning. This thoughtful act reduces the stresses of indecision and uncertainty on the part of survivors when a death occurs. There are several good reasons to plan in advance. First, there may be no one who is capable of making decisions on a person's behalf. Secondly, for the peace of mind knowing adequate funds will cover expenses. Pre-funding is also essential when applying for SSI/Medicaid benefits. Most importantly, pre-arrangement allows open discussion and rational decisions to be made ahead of time.
Controlling Costs
Pre-funding arrangements through Morris Funeral Home, lets you pay for services at today's price, with no future cost increases. Under an inflation-proof contract, we guarantee our services, regardless of when they are needed. We have several payment plans, should extended funding be necessary.
What if I move?
Under North Carolina Law, all monies deposited for pre-payment are protected. In the event of relocation, Morris Funeral Home would release the full amount to the servicing funeral home at the time of need. The price guarantee would be null and void, as funeral homes cannot guarantee one another's prices, however, all deposited funds and the investment growth of those funds, would apply toward expenses of the servicing firm.
